Andy Roddick is one of the most successful men’s tennis players of the modern era, winning 32 ATP singles titles over his 12-year career, including the 2003 US Open.
That victory at his home Grand Slam came at just 21 years old, and remains the last major singles title won by an American man.
Andy is most widely known for his powerful serve, which could reach speeds of up to 150mph. He once held the world record for fastest serve at 155mph, achieved in the Davis Cup semi-finals in 2004.
Andy’s breakthrough came in 2003, when he reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open and Wimbledon, won his first Masters titles in Cincinnati and Canada, and triumphed at the US Open.
By the end of 2003, at the age of 21, Andy was the world No. 1, becoming the first American to top the rankings since Andre Agassi in 1999, and the youngest American to achieve the feat.
He remained in the year-end top 10 for nine consecutive seasons between 2002 and 2010, before retiring from professional tennis in 2012.
Andy became Betway’s global tennis ambassador in August 2023 and will write regular columns for the Betway Insider, featuring his thoughts and opinions on all the biggest tennis tournaments.
